I like how it never occurs to people like Ms. Kirsch that perhaps the building of homes should have stopped before her small cottage was built ... as if the building was fine right up until I got what I like, but now it all has to stop. Maybe she should demolish her house and plant trees, no?
Part of the problem is that the Republican party has abandoned large parts of the country and so people do not have the option to vote for local pro-development politicians.
Another problem in development is that in the name of "democracy" we have given too many civic groups and bureaucrats veto power over public policy. Create a zoning law and then give building permits to anyone that meets the requirements.
