Yeah, I gew up there in the 50’s-60’s. It burned regularly.
It has burned for millenia, and no amount of stored water or firefighting will prevent it.

What's unusual this time is the timing--this is supposed to be the rainy season--and the multidirectional winds, rather than classic Santa Anas.
Thanks for your fire posts. The pictures of the Will Rogers house and barn are among the saddest. I’d been there a couple times, hiking with school groups, and hoped to go back on my own.
