I saw Arcadia in the 90s and was very impressed. My favorite character was probably the 19th century Lady Croom of all people. What can I say?
For an interesting take on entropy and the arrow of time, take a look at The Janus Point. At first glance, it's a bit crackpot, exploring time as an emergent phenomenon, but it brings in ideas from Mach and Einstein, among others, linking cosmology and entropy. All sorts of questions come up. Is the second law of thermodynamics true in an expanding universe? How can the dimension of time be integrated with the spatial dimensions? What is the equilibrium state of an n-body system? I rather enjoyed it.
