I’m working on a couple of full-length posts, but in the meantime I wanted to send this video of my Roots of Progress conference talk, plus a couple of other RoP conference highlights.
Even before I heard his talk, I loved what Ben Reinhardt is doing. (His Substack is here.) Here’s the article he wrote for me at WiP about the challenges of getting new materials out of the lab and into the world. After his talk, I told him I want to work for him. This was my favorite talk at the conference.
My WiP quasi-colleague Saloni Dattani was a close second. (Her Substack is here.) Aside from the fantastic substance, Saloni is one of those people who just exudes charm.
There are many more good talks on the Roots of Progress YouTube channel. I didn’t go to Celine Halioua’s, “Could dogs be key to unlocking human longevity?” but I’d heard her at an earlier conference, where I came in skeptical and came out impressed.
More posts soon!
I like seeing material science and history of materials on Substack. More please.
Phenomenal. Thanks for sharing! I’m constantly reminded of how deeply that book has burrowed itself into my brain.
